Would you try to change a tire on a moving car?
Probably not, right? It makes sense to slow down, pull over, take stock, and then make the necessary repairs.
The same can be applied to the importance of stopping to assess your life—where you are, where you’re going, and where you need to make adjustments.
If you’re barreling down the road of your life, there’s considerable momentum to keep going where you’re headed. If you’re joyful, fulfilled, and inspired in all aspects of your life (yes, I said all), by all means, carry on! Keep driving!
On the other hand, are you hearing some rattles, putting brakes on your own happiness, and keeping the gas pedal pushed all the way to the floor because you’re so adrenaline-ridden from the busyness of life? If so, then it’s time to pull over, take stock, and do some personal strategic planning.
Personal strategic planning is the difference between letting life happen to you and unfold around you versus proactively and actively creating the life you want. It means taking the time to think deeply and then creating an energizing and compelling action plan that reflects what matters most to you!
Consider this: most successful businesses commit to annual strategic planning to set goals and create specific plans to achieve them. As an individual, it’s time to put the same techniques to work and show the same commitment to achieving desired results in your own life.
Keep in mind: You have a much greater opportunity to live your best life if you strategize, plan, and act based on what matters most—to you.
Are you living your best life based on what matters most? What’s your plan to make 2011 your best year yet?
